How we fell in love....The Finale. Honeymoon in Vegas.

I couldn't end the walk down memory lane at the wedding.
Our honeymoon was just as memorable.

We bid our guests farewell the next day, after the delicious brunch we held. We toured some more vineyards with friends before we took off to Carmel.

The hotel was a slice of heaven tucked away in the mountain cliffs.

I still cry when I see this image. Remember when the pianist timed his solo of "Claire de Lune" to end just as the sun set into the horizon. I'll never get over the emotion it invoked. It was like watching the ocean devour the heat of the sun while our ears enveloped the sound of the piano.
Magical.
Catalina Island never met tourists like us before...
Only we would find humor in the phallic vegetation of the Pet Cemetery.

The thunderstorms and epic heat of the Mohave Desert was a treat. Anything was bearable headed to Las Vegas...
My first time in Vegas and it was a blast. I can't decide what I loved more. Partying with Depeche Mode, their concert or falling asleep while you went to gamble in the Hard Rock.

Our Honeymoon was just the beginning of our married life together and it has been a ball. We've hit rocky terrain at times but there's no one in this world I'd want to ride it with.

I love you Big Daddy.
Thanks for the experiences you've given me. Thanks for the memories we're making. Thank you for holding my hand when I've felt alone. Thank you for making me feel like the best person in your life. Thank you for making me giggle even when I don't feel like it. Thank you for giving me the greatest gift ever, our daughter. Thank you for being you.

How we fell in love....part four. The Big Day.

August 3, 2001
Our wedding day.

How much fun it was.

And how in love we were.

I'll never forget the weather and the aroma of the vineyard.
The wine cellar was as romantic as you could get.

The day was perfect. The guests were having fun. We were taking it all in.

Oh! My beautiful cake. I've never even heard of 'Fondant' until we saw that cake!

And I would do it all over again in a heartbeat, if you asked.

I love you Big Daddy.
Happy Anniversary.

How we fell in love....part three. Haiku Scouting.

(Click here for Part I, and Part II)

Haiku Friday

May of 2000
Our favorite place to eat
The corner table

Without me knowing...
You asked and I said, "OF COURSE!"
Are you kidding me?

It was so spark-ly!!!
Just what I've always wanted.
So very spark-ly.

Plan set in motion
Getting married in Napa
Place we fell in love

Scouting locations
Best time in February
to go to Napa

It's a good thing that
Queen of the Valley ER
Opened up for us

Who knew that mud baths
would send me to the ER
with UTI pain!

Gah!

The ER was closed
Turned the lights on just for us
Small Town Hospital

But we kept going
Only had a few short days
Even with no sleep

Visiting vineyards
So drunk, couldn't even eat
Always time for wine

My favorite place
Didn't do weddings, too bad
We'll keep looking though

Then we saw the church
We instantly fell in love
And the deal was sealed

This would be the best
experience of our lives
Our Napa Wedding

How we fell in love....part two. Back again.

We promised to return to "Our Special Place" one day. And we did. December of '98 we went back to celebrate New Year's.

And right away, you took me to my bridge. Walking over it was the most exhilarating thing ever...

And you weren't the least bit embarrassed by me when I took all those pictures.
Stopping traffic to get that special shot.

We even made it to my favorite winery all in time for New Year's Eve at the Fairmont Hotel in San Fransisco.

I remember thinking, "If he asked me to marry him, I would."

How we fell in love....part one. Our First Trip.

I remember how excited I was to be going away to California with you. Our first trip together. It was 1997. We were dating about a year. The nervous excitement I felt was crazy.

Would we get along? Would we get sick of each other? Would I want to run?

Hell Yes. No. No.

We had a blast. We were all over Northern California. I found my new favorite place. And I found my new favorite person. We visited so many sights. We were tireless.

It was fun touring Alcatraz. And pretending to be inmates.

We hung out at Pebble Beach. And listened for sea lions.

We toured a zillion different wineries.

And got tanked.

Maybe it was the beautiful scenery.

Or the amount of time we pondered raw, Irish Pizza.

Maybe I was dizzy from being on Lombard Street and trying so hard not to topple over on those steep inclines. But no. That wasn't it.

It was the way you never got tired of me wanting to go over the Golden Gate Bridge "just one more time."

It was the way you took me all over (and under) that bridge because you knew I loved it so much.

It was the way you made me feel special and the way California became "Our Special Place".

I'll never forget that.

I'm so talented

Celebrating the Pro's birthday was fun. He enjoyed his present: 'Landscaping done for him until the end of the summer'. He said it was the best present he's ever gotten. Yay me.

I got brave and I actually tried to bake a cake. A real one. From a box. But nonetheless edible and frosted.

See:

Nom Nom Nom
Way better than last year's Birthday Blunder which started out alright:

But ended up looking like frosted crap.

Atrocious.

And since I had a whole entire year to contemplate my baking errors...I got creative.

I know. I know. You are amazed at my bakin' skillz.

He was too.

I am even quite the resourceful one when I can't find a piping head that works with the crap-tastic red piping that I bought without reading the label. It was missing a plastic head that piped out the red frosting in a thick tube to make the baseball stitiching...So what did I do you ask?

Thank goodness Fa takes her meds from a spoon now. Looks like something from a horror movie.

Should I start a business? Heh Heh.

You say it's your birthday...

And I'm proud to celebrate you.

Happy Birthday to my husband, my soft cushion to land on, my heart.

You and Fa are my world and I am honored to be a part of both of your lives.

(Can't get much cuter than this.)

Happy Birthday Pro.

I love you.

"Arriba, Arriba, Andele! Andele!"

Feliz Cinco de Mayo amigos!

Hope you all have a great day and muchos muchos coronas y besitos!!!

We had a laid back weekend.
The Pro and Fa took a "Parenting for Dad's class" on Saturday and I gotta tell ya, that's a real turn on, people. When your kid's father takes this much interest in being a father...and not just a father, but a fricken' ass-kicken one at that. He took a "Parenting for Dad's class"... hello?

We also went to visit a farm all the way out on the island. We get our organic veggies delivered from this place and they put on a tour so you can see where your money goes. It was wonderful.
Fa had a ball actually pulling some veggies from the ground.

I'll leave you with last night's sunset. Kind of pretty, huh? I know. Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Memeing and Ku'ing at The Pro

Haiku Friday

Oh! My husband
What would I do without you
Less laundry for sure!

You are my best friend
The one who hears my complaints
and never runs off

I am so lucky
to have found the heart in you
sorry, I'm cranky

I'm working on it
I know you've noticed a change
Your compliments help!

Just want you happy
Want you to know I love you
Love you and your socks

Even when they're strewn
All over the living room
and under the bed

You are a mean cook
That makes up for your laundry
Happy bellies rule.

Krista tagged me for this meme...I've seen it before but never did it...I'm all up in theses memes so I must've been really depressed not to jump in on it...

I'm happy she tagged me for it. Thanks Krista!

You should go read her meme and her blog, she has a great place filled with beautiful pictures and great writing...Her and her husband are the cutest ever.

How long did you date? 4 years before we got engaged.

How old is he? 38 this July!

Who eats more? Him, usually! I'm watching my girly figure...

Who said “I love you” first? He did. And he said he knew I loved him too and I didn't have to say it if I wasn't sure yet...

Who is taller? He's 6'1" and I'm 5'6"

Who sings better? He actually has a great voice...sounds just like whoever he's singing with...Like a chameleon...

Who is smarter? He is wittier...I'm the genius of the family...you all know that. He has a comeback for everything (like his daughter) and I'm usually the mensa...Ha!

Whose temper is worse? Mine all mine.

Who does the laundry? Hello? I do. When I can pick up the piles...

Who does the dishes? Kenmore.

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? How are you looking at it? If you are in it, he's on the right...if you are looking from the foot, I'm on the right.

Who pays the bills? Me, but he makes the scheckles to pay them with.

Who cooks dinner? Him. But I'm learning. And I order a mean pizza.

Who drives when you are together? Him, he gets car sick.

Who is more stubborn? Me...damnit.

Who kissed who first? I think we kissed each other...we were both there..But don't ask when, I have no clue.

Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? I think we can both do that pretty well...But I'm hardly wrong.

Whose parents do you see the most? Equally the same...We live smack dab in the middle of both parents.

Who proposed? He did. And I didn't even know it was coming, even though we talked about it.

Who is more sensitive? We are both pretty sensitive.

Who has more friends? Oh he does. He's got like a bajillion friends and as you know, I'm losing all of mine as I type. But I'm working on it.

Who has more siblings? He has a brother and a sister, I have one asshole brother.

Who wears the pants in the family? Well, he doesn't wear skirts. But then again, I hardly do either...We make decisions together as one pant wearing unit.

There ya go. All about The Pro.

I need to tag some people...Hmmm...

Since J has a new job, let's tag Chelle, Janet and Janet...Just because I love their names...and Midwestern Mommy...And you too if you feel up to it.
