Signs of Spring
"Look Ma...Crocuses...those are signs of spring!!!"
We have been searching every day for more and more signs of spring, since spring has sprung.
Fa is so interested in the flowers and greenery in our neighborhood that she has even encouraged my husband to start planting all sorts of flowers with her....
Her favorite:
We check them every day and they are growing so quickly.
Just like Fa.
It seems just yesterday she was a colicky infant and I was a post partum nervous wreck.
Now, oh boy! Now. She is the brightest sign of spring I could ever find in the garden. Being witness to her exploration of the world around her amazes me. She is so curious and bright. Into everything nature gives her, loving animals of all kinds and caring to all living things. Interested in the sunrise and sunset and the phases of the moon...I am in awe.
What has led her to this natural curiosity? Why has she grown so interested in nature and animals? She wants to be a veterinarian when she grows up. Why? Where and when does she think about these things? How has her little mind developed into this thinking, caring, choice making, emotional being?
How did I get so lucky to be able to share in this exploration of hers?
I look forward to all of her discoveries and all of her hobbies and talents. I am amazed she has a preference for such great things.
As spring brings on warmer weather, my heart warms to my daughter's ongoing development. What was once so scary has become so wonderful. I will enjoy this season as I will enjoy the seasons that follow. Any length of time that enables me to experience my daughter's growth is as precious as beat of our hearts.

lovely, hon.
ReplyDeleteenjoy every minute.
Sweet post! I am coming via Bliss in Bloom. Our babies definitely do grow up fast.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog name and profile pic. (It got my attention because Faye Dunaway's portrayal of Joan Crawford gave me NIGHTMARES as a little girl.) :)
Come to think of it, I could blame her for never wanting to "hang" up the laundry.:)
Nice blog.
Have a great day!
Amy:)
P.S. I love my dog too...She is my favorite.:)
I think the greatest part of being a parent is watching our kids exploration of the world.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the signs of spring. I love, love, love all of the beautiful flowers. Now, if our weather would just cooperate.
ReplyDeleteRe: kids...I continue to flip out about how quickly they are growing. Part of me wants to turn them back in to babies again but then I think about these amazing (almost) 5 year olds that can hold these intelligent conversations with me and make jokes and well...it's wild. But I love every minute of the ride!
What the hell - you can write about crocuses and sunflowers and i get all teary eyed???
ReplyDeleteSigh...
What a wonderful post. Sounds like Fa is a remarkable (little) woman -- just like her mama!
ReplyDeleteIt is truly amazing to see the world through the eyes of a child. I wish I had done more of that when mine were littler!
ReplyDeletegasp girl! What a beautiful post. I have so wanted to be able to focus on the discovery ... must slow down!!! Miss you sorry for being so out of the loop, just cranky as of late!
